Felix is from Gothenburg, Sweden. But he goes to University of Aberdeen in Scotland.
Why he came to Japan??
He came to Japan to join Akita international university as an exchange student.
Akita international university is famous for “All English classes” university. Japan is far away to achieve ” Good English speaking” country in my opinion. But this university is exception. (I have never been there tho)
If you look at Japanese map, Akita is located in the north part of Japan which is very cold maybe like Sweden. (Taka is from Chugoku region)
To be honest, Felix is very mature and fun to be with, for me , did not look like 20 years old student. He told me that he used to work a lot to get as much as experience because his parents want him to be independent. I think.
Our first memory is in Ramen shop. We ate miso ramen and talked about cultural differences.
Actually, he is very outgoing too. After finishing ramen, he went to bar or pub and came back to home around 6 am.
Cooking in return
I asked him to cook some food which is from his own country. But because of ingredients, he could not make , so he made pasta which is Italian food. Only Swedish thing he found was this
He told me that it is impossible to find Swedish ingredients but most of ingredients are French and Italian.
He told me that you are working too much. In Sweden, the normal working hours is 7 hours. There is fika too.
He told me about Swedish traditional culture about “fika” which never exists in Japan.
Fried oyster Dinner
Our last dinner was Fries oyster which is very tasty food of Japan. We talked about how Corona Virus goes around the world because he talked about what happened in Sweden. Due to Corona virus, he had to cancel of Osaka trip.
Even tough there is a big confusion about corona virus , I hope he does his best in Akita because he was 20, I was in NZ and the experiences became my important memories , to be honest.
